Power outlets have worked fine for me, but I haven't used USB ports until recently (thankfully). I plugged some USB powered LED bulbs into a USB port for power and they flashed, then plugged them into a USB hub and they worked as expected. This means that the USB output on this strip has EXTREMELY poor voltage regulation (essentially it can't support the 5 volts that USB is designed for) and the voltage will fluctuate around 5 volts but isn't stable enough to get right to function. This WILL damage some devices and at the very least affect your device's charging circuitry. In the worst case, there is a risk of fire.
