Definitely catches all the sand/dirt! I have 2 of these outside my door: a small, scratchy boot and a large, mat-like one. I also have 3 LARGE German Shepherds who have managed to turn my small lawn garden into a sandy paradise for themselves. Also, I have hardwood floors throughout the house. So you can imagine what it was like to walk in it after the dogs got back in. Step inside this AMAZING Herringbone Doormat with BOOM. Literally NO. MORE. SAND. in the house! i love this thing It's just a pity that I didn't think of buying it 3 years ago! Could save me sweeping and vacuuming floors. It hurts a bit to go barefoot, but then again, it's MADE to wipe the crap off. I mean dirt from your shoes! Verdict: Get this if you want dirt to STAY. OUT. where it belongs!
