Decent enough to get the job done, but watch out for shards!

They're perfect for the job they're designed for and pretty well priced. The length is just long enough to reach the cross and the scratchy end will not tear your skin if you are careful. UPDATE Nov 17, 2011: All 3 of these are still in use in our home so I should add that while light in actual weight they are clearly strong and durable. This makes them an even more sensible purchase considering these items will not break in half after careful or frequent use by multiple family members and leave a much smaller carbon footprint on the planet unlike plastic. The only thing that bothered me when I received them was the shards that all three had in the same place - the scratchy fingertip on the left side. This is clearly due to the method used to separate impregnated and shaped bamboo in production. The good news is that there is an easy, cheap, and very simple fix to this SMALL drawback. It's possible to take a household grinder like this Black & Decker Mouse thingy (Black & Decker MS800B Mouse Detail Sander With Dust Collection), your Pedi-Paws Pet Grinder as shown on TV, but first remove the plastic guard (Ontel Products Corp Pet Pedip-Mc6 nail clipper as seen on TV) or better yet, just an old regular sanding board such as Take one of the above and file the split ends until smooth. When you're done, coat the back scratcher with some clear nail polish, let it dry completely, and you're done! I used a Pedi-Paws Pet nail trimmer with the guard removed. This wacky gadget isn't great for trimming pet nails, but it does work as a handy rotary sander! It fixed those babies right away, and since most households either have clear nail polish on hand or can buy a small bottle for a dollar, it's worth doing. After sanding down the rougher edges on all three and sealing them with clear nail polish I've had no problems with them since I bought them and used them this morning. In winter, they come in handy for women who wear layers and don't want to take off to get at that annoying itch just under the back of the bra hook! That was my problem this morning and I was like, 'Wow, I've had them for a long time and they're still on! Maybe I should update my review!โ€ So I have to report that they still work exactly as the manufacturer intended. The flaw I mentioned is minor and so easy to fix that it shouldn't put you off buying. Just drop and seal them as I described and you will be happy!
