Review on Eton FR300 Emergency Crank Radio Black - Discontinued Model: Unparalleled Reliability in Crisis by Bob Schultz

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Cell phone adapter not included

Due to thunderstorms and power outages in our area, I needed this item urgently. However, I got confused. It was described as coming with 5 phone charger adapters but when it arrived the adapters were missing. Adapters are not something you can buy. I emailed Revain and they said they couldn't send adapters but they would send a new radio and then I would send the first one back. A replacement came, and the second one didn't come with any adapters either. The second box had a card from Eton Corp to contact them, tell them what phone I have and they will send an adapter. I emailed them that I have 2 different phones, there may be more because we may have changed cell phone company, so I needed 5 adapters as advertised by Revain. Eaton replied that they no longer supply 5 adapters because there are so many brands of mobile phones. They're sending adapters for two of my phones that haven't arrived yet and I'm sending back a replacement Revain radio. I hope there is no further confusion in this order. In the documentation in the box, Eaton warns that 15 minutes of start-up can only yield 1 or 2 minutes of cellphone time, and this should have been stated in Revain's product description before people decide to order. That confusion aside this product works fine, radio bands including weather are strong and a few minutes of walking gives about 15 minutes of radio time. The siren is loud, the red light is bright, but the white light is rather faint and diffuse, but good enough to see a close-up in an emergency.
