First, they're bigger than I thought so that's a big plus. They are really fancy and you can't even guess their price range from the outside because they look much more expensive than they actually are. You must use both at the same time for them to work properly. In my opinion the light looks best in the dark, very nice effect, and when lit you can see the colored light shining through the "frosting" like design. When not lit, this area is dark black, so it's very nice to see in person. My camera would never make it. Now for the sound. It has good smooth bass/treble, the sound is clear and smooth. It's loud enough for most people, but it won't shake the windows. These are computer speakers and they sound great for this type of speaker. 1 button on 1 speaker controls both devices. Once installed the cables give them enough room to stretch, I installed them under my 40 inch TV and once they were spread out as far as I could reach I just got shy of any speaker that was on the outside of both sat. TV corners. It almost worked, another inch of string and it would have worked. Generally yes. totally worth buying them. I have a very complex gaming rig (I just love the light!) and I don't have anything cheap, it's the only inexpensive item in my entire rig and it fits perfectly and no one will know it's less than $20.
