Photos show it better than I can describe. There is a latch that secures the leg gusset on the left side and a latch that secures the leg gusset on the right side. The latches are metal and fit into a round hole drilled in the wooden leg. At the first reception they only staggered a little. A 17 inch gaming laptop was left on this platform, which was placed on another table. For the first month, the weight of the laptop alone caused the dents you see in the wood. On both pairs of legs, where are the latches. This increased the vibration to about 1 inch from side to side. Rock it back and forth a few times and the latches will start to loosen. A few more times and one or both latches will come loose from the legs.
