I'd been having lower back pains, and this gift was perfect. Sometime I'd use a towel or pillow between my lower back and the massager because the mechanism rotating can feel rough. It provides a little heat on one of the settings. I used it so long one time it got hot and I guess as a safety device it shut down. I let it cool off and its been working just fine. So now if it overheats it may shut down.
