Review on ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ LulzBot TAZ Workhorse Edition 3D Printer by Justin Miller

I wouldn't be happy.

In the box you get a printer, a PLA pattern to print a test part, a set of tools, an SD card, power cable and USB. Out of the box, you can simply attach the bed assembly, connect the cables, and start printing. The included tool set comes in a nice bag and contains many tools and items that you will need. I thought it was a very good recording. I have attached a picture of the items included. After setting everything up and trying to test the print, I had a few issues; I couldn't remove the small piece of filament that came in the printer from the factory, and the printer bed didn't get hot. The thread at the end was L-shaped, which didn't allow me to remove it. There wasn't enough room for me to put the cutter in so I ended up twisting and pulling really hard and finally got it out. It wasn't an ideal situation. I've seen others talking about this issue online. Then to the bed, I checked the electrical connections and no luck. I checked and support was still open an hour so I called. Someone replied in a minute just asking for my name and phone number and then what my problem was. He immediately said to remove the side of the printer and check the bed cable connection inside the printer. He was right and that solved the problem. In hindsight, I should have made it myself, but I'm stuck in the mindset that this is a new product, so I shouldn't be messing with its innards just yet. In any case, the support was prompt and accurate in diagnosing, so it was a pleasure. I'm not new to 3D printing, but I'm not an expert either. I started with the Monoprice Mini V2, then bought and built a Prusa I3 MK3 kit, then upgraded to MK3S. I've had him for over a year now. So I don't get into this TAZ as if it were my first printer. I had trouble stretching PLA even with the PLA test coil on, which others have mentioned. I used it and then switched to the Gizmo Dorks Color Change Purple to Pink ABS reel and I've had better luck with this one. I'll move on to other reels over time as I open them, but for now I've been using these. I'll update later when I've tried the others. I also changed the filament medium pressure and it worked flawlessly. Sitting down and thinking about it, I wouldn't be happy if I paid full price for this printer. I would rather have 3x MK3S printers for the price of TAZ. The print quality isn't better, it's not faster, it uses a less common filament size, the prints are harder to shoot, and it's noisier than my MK3S. In fact, for me it just has a slightly larger print volume. The latest news about the LulzBot company is that they are in trouble. My support experience was before they downsized and laid off 91 out of 113 employees. I read that they are looking for a buyer and are trying to get rid of excess stock. Ultimately I wouldn't recommend this printer unless you can find it on sale or know you need it for a specific reason. I want to like it, but for me, given the performance I've seen from it, it's just not worth 3x the price of the Prusa. Also, given the current situation at LulzBot, I would be cautious about future support.
