I'm not a jeweler, I don't even wear jewellery. But as a handyman, I often need pliers that won't scratch or damage the fragile items I'm working with. Gone are the days of trying to use some kind of fabric or cloth between the pliers and the object. These are good pliers. Feels great in the hand and runs very smoothly. Nylon tips are soft and easily deformed, so handle them carefully and don't misuse them. However, the tips are interchangeable. So if you damage yours like I did, you can just put in a new set of tips. They are easy to swap out and are each held in place by a single Phillips head screw. The quality of these pliers, as well as other Beardsmith pliers I own, is excellent. Buy with confidence.
