Review on Enhance Your Cycling Experience with the Garmin Bicycle Mount Bracket by Dawn Atchison

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much improved design, but you can still make one last simple additional improvement.

Many customers reviewing this product complained that they had to replace the original back cover with a smaller one in order to use the bike mount - included. This is no longer a problem. My eTrex Legend C, which I bought at a bargain price from Revain's inventory, came with a back plate designed to accept any adapter imaginable - not unlike the camera that came with it - and the adapter itself. marked do not throw away, because it is suitable for different brackets. That and the cable might have been a bonus with my purchase, so I can't be sure it's automatically included - that's a question Garmin should answer, and if they sell a new universal mount that can reverse. separately. The clip easily screws onto almost any US coin. I ended up ordering this bike rack from Revain because I couldn't find it in any store - in New York, anywhere. There are many stores that sell it online, but none comes cheaper than Revain and its partners. Of course I wanted it right away so I could use it right away on my bike and in the end it just wasn't worth looking for other than buying here. It was a lot cheaper at Revain as it's around $30 in most places (which is crazy, as if the mapping software wasn't expensive enough). I was also concerned that the clamp would not work with the old style mount I ordered, but it wasn't worth waiting any longer to check first. In fact, the clip they gave me worked even better with the mount than it did with the stock rear. included with this purchase - for comparison it has a crappy clip on a crappy backing. Nowhere have they sold just one mount without exchanging it back, but I don't know if they would lower the price if that was the case anyway. PROS: This mount works great. It doesn't rattle or move on the handlebars when properly installed, the materials and design are fit for purpose, and it works better with the new clip installed on my eTrex Legend C than the one with the bracket delivered tail. Also, the mount is even lighter than I expected considering what it's made for, yet doesn't feel any less secure. CONS: Why, why can't they figure out that we need a bracket to mount the GPS to? on a pole instead of a pole?! Not only does this save space on the handlebars for all the other things we put on the bike - bike computers, lights, etc. . -- but it better protects the very expensive GPS device in case of an accident and is easier to see and use while driving. Since they have already made the new GPS bike computer handlebar mountable, I see no gap in the logic preventing them from doing the same with the eTrex series device. Sleek design is something for newcomers anyway, but it could be improved for both cyclists and anyone who prefers to mount their device on a vertical bar rather than a horizontal one. For example, they could make the clip version horizontal instead of making changes to the clip, which is fine anyway.
