My new work laptop has the new USB-C ports and only two of the old USB-A ports (which we know as "regular USB"). Well, my external keyboard, mouse, microphone and headset use regular USB connections. Just plug in this hub and you'll instantly replace one of those USB-C ports with FOUR regular USB ports. One thing I don't quite understand is the speed of the USB ports. The product description seems to indicate that not all are USB 3.0 and at least some are USB 2.0. The only difference between these two specs is speed. The forks are the same. In fact, the only way to find out is to plug a hard drive into the port and copy a bunch of files. USB 2.0 is significantly slower than USB 3.0. Since I don't use it with any drives, I can't shed any light on it and there's no marking on the hub itself. If, like me, you only use USB for things like keyboards, mice, microphones, speakers, headphones, etc., you won't be able to tell if a particular port is USB 2.0 or 3.0 because those peripherals work great with any of them. .
