Review on πŸ’» High Speed USB 2.0 Hub with 4 Ports, in Black by Richard Kuntz

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Start driving immediately the first time you plug it in! Good thing my laptop didn't burn out.

It took about a month which is ok because it was mentioned when I chose economy shipping. 3 stars. The seller was good at communication. Probably from China. Also 3 stars for that. But the product is undesirable and dangerous. Got my Microsoft mouse and Logitech keyboard plugged in and plugged into a "hub". The laptop did not recognize 2 USB ports of the laptop. Connected the HUB to the 3rd port on the other side and couldn't find the correct driver. So I opened Device Manager, updated the driver and searched for a better driver. Then I started doing my job. The smoke scared me. And I looked and saw that the smoke was coming from that HUB. Turned off and it almost boiled. The cable became soft from the heat etc. after an hour, the fingertips are still slightly burned from the heat. When it cooled I checked how to open it and it opened itself. It was just a clip-on case on a chain. Attached is a photo of what I saw inside. It seems to me that bad soldering of thin wires could cause a short circuit. I would say skip it and buy a good one. The $8 you save isn't worth your burned laptop. So I wouldn't ask for a replacement. Note. I also bought a $10 Kinivo 10-port USB 2.0 hub from Amazon. That works great.
