I researched many of these wool rugs before deciding on this one. It is written that it is 100% wool and it is true. It smells of wool - anyone who has ever been near sheep knows what I mean. I've had sheep myself, so I know the smell of plain wool. I have had NO issues with it burning or melting. I use a Rowenta mini iron with it so it gets hot.
