I love these glasses. I ordered white in May and liked it so much I ordered purple in August. I use them every weekday. They are thin enough to fit perfectly in my car's cup holder. I find it much easier to hold in my hand because it's thinner than other mugs. outside is not smooth; It's a bit rough in texture, which also helps me stick to it. The straw is made of metal and has grooves that make it easy to close the straw opening in the lid. Haven't used it this way yet but I'm sure you could use it without a straw as the part where the straw goes in slides back a bit so you can drink without a straw. It also comes with a straw brush for cleaning the straw. I put the cup and lid on the top shelf and the straw in the dishwasher's cutlery basket and they come clean with no problem. As long as they look new. I use mine for ice water or tea and they keep it cold for my workday. Doesn't sweat. It's not leakproof in the sense that you can't stand it upside down and expect it not to leak. It's sort of anti-spill in the sense that if you accidentally knock it on a table or counter, very little will spill before you pick it up and stand it upright. It is not intended for active activities such as hiking or cycling. I would definitely buy again.
