This review relates to the Godot V860II S flash for Sony cameras. This flash has many attractive features, but unfortunately some of them don't work. For example, the flash should automatically adjust to changes in focal length when using a zoom lens. To do this, it has both an automatic mode (where the flash adjusts itself and displays this setting on the LED screen) and a manual mode, where you can manually enter the desired focal length using the dial on the back. None of them worked. I could never get the flash to go into auto mode (indicated by the letter "A" on the LED screen). By default, when the flash was turned on, it immediately switched to manual setting mode and did not change. When I tried to set the focal length manually, it refused to set and got stuck at 14mm. Maybe a problem in the firmware? I don't know, but faced with this issue, I've never had the chance to use it to see how it works (or if there were any other issues). It's a shame, because the flash is inexpensive for the features it offers and comes with a few useful accessories (such as a softbox diffuser). It also uses a proprietary rechargeable battery instead of the AA batteries my Nikon flash uses. It seemed to work well, but it limits flexibility - if your battery dies unexpectedly and you don't have another, there's no alternative. After several attempts to get it working I finally gave up and called Revane and got it back. Thank goodness for Revain's return policy!
