Review on WiFi signal amplifier (repeater) TP-LINK TL-WA854RE, white by Anastazja Dziemian ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A normal product, however, does not fully match the description.

My first repeater. Unfortunately, seamless roaming will not work, it creates a new network with a new name and password. I tried to set the name and password as the original network - the devices are connected to the original network. And the very principle of operation is a little depressing - it catches the remnants of the network after several walls (2 sticks and 10 megabit / s), and distributes further. So that the speed does not drop so much, you need to stick a repeater after each wall. In short, it turns out "cheap and cheerful", according to the mind, you need to make a seamless network on equipment that can do this (for example, Kinetics), and with connecting all nodes via cable.

Pros
  • + Easy setup + Diodes can be disabled + Low price
Cons
  • Addition: =========== - Changes its MAC address every time you connect. You can't set a fixed one. Because of this, the amplifier cannot be added to trusted devices on the main router, and in order for the amplifier to work at all, connections must be allowed on the main router for any devices. For me, this is unacceptable, and there are complaints on the Internet, to which the manufacturer replies that this is by design and will not be corrected. For some reason, I need a legacy WEP network on my main router, and the booster forces the security of the entire network to be weakened even more. Absolute nonsense, 3 stars.
