This was my first experience of buying paracord, so my answer reflects my naivety. Shortly after, I bought different colors at Hobby Lobby for about the same price. I have found that the two products (Paracord Planet and HL) differ in several important ways. PP is round and very durable. My feed couldn't get through it to match two colors. Feed could hardly open the end either and it was with great difficulty that I was able to combine PP black with another color (using Manny's method). Even with splicing, I've found that the PP line doesn't work well with the HL line because it keeps its round shape while the HL line is slightly flattened to bend at the knots. Bottom Line: Whenever possible, buy different colors from the same manufacturer (or at least the seller) to get compatible products. From what I can tell, PP paracord is excellent, but either use it alone for crafting or keep for utility purposes.
