Johnston & Murphy Shuler Bicycle Toe Oxford is a good looking business and casual shoe. It is made of genuine soft leather that wears well. I can wear it to almost any occasion, so I wear it almost every day. I've had 2 pairs of these sneakers in 3 years. Size 10.5 2E is perfect for my wide foot. They are very comfortable to walk, stand and you can jog easily. It took me less than a week to break in the shoes and I didn't feel any burning or discomfort during the process like I do with many other leather loafers. My first pair made no noise and I wore them until there was literally a hole in the bottom of the leather insole. Finally, I ripped out the foam adhesive-lined insole and replaced it with a gel insole so I could continue to wear it casually around the house. The thread is also frayed and snapped in the toe area as the thread wasn't very strong. This was probably because I had to go to the floor to run network and computer cables for work. When I received the second pair, it creaked. I think it's because of the gap in the insole or because part of the insole isn't firmly bonded around the entire perimeter. When you walk, air enters every gap and is pushed out when you land your foot, causing a creaking sound. Haven't bothered to find a solution to this yet other than tiptoe when I want to be stealthy. Another possibility of squeaking is if you have loose shoelaces that push and pull and rub against your skin as you walk. You can try loosening the laces and applying shoe cream or polish to reduce friction. Overall, this shoe is great value. When I took care of my second pair, I got up to 2 years of use. If this is your first pair of leather shoes, I highly recommend that you learn how to clean and polish shoes. Buy cedar shoe lasts to keep your leather in good condition. Keep shoes dry and away from water or direct sunlight. Also, bring a second or third pair of shoes and swap them out so everyone has time to recover. A note on customer service: I have called several times and they are always very nice, helpful and treat their customers very well. It's one of the reasons I keep buying her shoes. I'm on my third pair now!
