My son wanted these for his room. His brother has another brand, similar. This set is very bright with a wide range of colors. The blue lights have a black light effect which was an unexpected bonus. You can adjust the brightness, and there are also options to blink, strobe, and fade between colors. The flash is faster relative to the brightness of your light. You can also set the lights to flash along with music or sound. It's cool for a minute, but then it gets a little annoying because it's too unstable. It catches every tiny note instead of blinking in a rhythmic pattern. The app is easy to use and works better than the remote control. The remote control seems a bit finicky, but after we hung the lights it worked better. The tape is really good. We attached it to the popcorn ceiling. I'm not sure if he'll stay, but I was impressed that he stuck to it at all. I think it will work well on smooth surfaces. The only problem was the connections. We turned off the light to turn the corner, but we can't connect to the network. Directions are missing. It's hard to tell if we connected it correctly, but I've tried every possible way and the cut piece didn't light up. I emailed the seller and he replied seriously within 3 minutes. They gave some advice on the connections but immediately offered to send a new set of headlights. You couldn't ask for better customer service. The new lamps should arrive in about a week. This time I won't try to cut and connect. My other son's set has better plugs with real metal pins, while this set is just a flat strip with embedded wires that plug into the plugs. It was impossible to tell if we got it right. With a set of tines, you'll stick to the lengths they offer. This new set can be cut to any length, although it's not very useful if you can't get the connectors to work. All in all I can recommend these lamps. They look great and have a lot of fun options. I would definitely recommend this seller for their amazing response time and willingness to resolve the issue.
