Review on Refined Linseed Oil Size 16 by Nick Owens

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Alkaline cleaned and available - ideal for oil painting.

The perfect inexpensive linseed oil for oil painting, Gambling Refined linseed oil is just what you need if you are interested in art. Flaxseed oil is made from flaxseed and is easy to confuse as it produces several petroleum products. Crude linseed oil is great for furniture finishing, but terrible for oil painting due to the impurities it contains. Alkaline refined and cold-pressed linseed oils are best suited for dyeing. They add shine and transparency to paint, dilute paint and slow down drying time depending on the amount used. Stand oil is linseed oil that has been heated without air to mimic oil that has not been stored for several days. It works best on topcoats, not as an all purpose oil. As a beginner, I didn't know anything about this when I started, and I happily bought a bunch of cheap raw flaxseed oil without realizing what I was doing. But now I know I need to buy refined flaxseed oil. In fact, this is the brand my art school sells me (in smaller and more expensive bottles). This oil works great in my oil painting. It thins the paint, slows drying time as expected, and has no obvious impurities. It's also the cheapest refined flaxseed oil I've seen online or in stores. That makes it an easy recommendation for me.
