Review on HP 25 Inch Wide Screen Monitor - 2509M (Model: NT195AA#ABA) by Matthew Mack

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great monitor with extras

This is a great new HP monitor. This is a full HD LCD monitor that I am using with the new HP Pavilion Elite HPE that can play Blu-ray discs. At $265 for Revain I decided to experiment and when amazed by the results I bought a second monitor of the same kind a day later! I use this computer/monitor in my home office, but sometimes I like to take a break from work and watch TV. I have a DirecTV HD DVR with HDMI output in my office. Well, this new range of HP monitors now has an HDMI input. So I switched from an HD DVR to an HP monitor and was curious to see what the results would be. Super spectacular. This is the cleanest way to get videos from DirecTV without any hurdles. Colors are reproduced perfectly and black levels are excellent. I have never seen such a perfect and faithful picture on a large LCD screen. This monitor handles dark scenes better (contrast) than even my 52-inch Sony XBR. All HD channels on DirecTV look equally good, so I didn't feel like adjusting the color, brightness, or sharpness settings (which you can't). I'm sure all the other monitors in this line have HDMI input except for the 25" and 27" monitors. If you can get by with a monitor of this size, perhaps in an office or bedroom, you'll be really acceptable, although I connect the HD DVR's audio outputs to a Yamaha RX-E810 desktop system to be able to increase the volume.
