Review on I-OGEAR 2-Port Cinema 4K DisplayPort KVM Switch with Complete Cable Set (GCS62DP) by Tyrazz Abouzar

Switches between a Windows 10 gaming setup with a GTX 980 and a 2012 Macbook Pro. MacbookPro uses a Mini Displayport for the Displayport Adapter Cable (Thunderbolt Compatible Version). The display is a 34-inch display with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a resolution of 3440 x 1440 Acer 34X. Video switching: Windows correctly recognizes the monitor as a G-Sync compatible device. Both computers work correctly at a resolution of 3440 x 1440 and up to 75 Hz. I don't see the video. any degradation with a KVM switch compared to a direct connection. Both computers send audio over the display port and this works correctly with a caveat that I included in the audio section of my review. I'll give him an A on video switching. Keyboard/Mouse Switching: Keyboard/Mouse switching works exactly as expected. Also, KVM recognizes basically the same hotkey sequences (and then some) of the Iogear VGA 4-Port KVM, which I used for 6 or 7 years before I got this one, which was nice. So switching K and M also gives A. Audio Switching: The unit comes with 2 cables to connect to the headphone jacks on any computer and has an output for your headphones. The sound is noticeably, no, terrible, degraded compared to plugging the headphones directly into the computer, the sound is completely tinny. There is also a noticeable hiss and occasional howl. It also loses so much volume that it becomes almost unusable. Even if you route the computer's audio output through the display port to the monitor's built-in audio device, sometimes you get quite a bit of static electricity when switching between sources. It could be my monitor and not the KVM switch. Overall, I give the audio functionality a 3. Finally, it loses a full star due to its shortcomings in the audio category. If you don't use audio switching and want to run 3440 x 1440, this seems like a good choice if it fits your budget.
