I buy other brands and when they break and I have the choice to do it all over again, I buy Panasonic like I should have. I've been researching digital cameras for under $180 for a few months now and in that time several FH20's have rolled in and out of my Revain car while I was looking around. My last camera was a Sony with constant lens problems (DSC-S600), which seems to be somewhat typical of Sony. Count me in. All "FH" Lumixes are rated very well. I wanted the most powerful optical zoom in this series. My first impression of the camera upon unboxing was how solid it felt. It looks well built and the lens design is less prone to glitches than some others. There's no rotating scene selector, but I can tell you rotary switches don't always wear well. I prefer the simple tact switches this block uses. For most people, auto-tuning is perfectly acceptable. The video footage is very clear, as are the photos. In fact, the quality of the pictures I just took while sitting on the couch was very impressive. Very clean and well defined with great colour. As for the sound quality, I'm not sure yet. I need to play the video clip through something other than the camera before I know for sure. Sounds quiet and harsh, but could also just be played through the camera. The menus are easy to understand (I don't usually read manuals unless I can figure it out myself). I looked at the instruction manual just to make sure it was well written and in order. No problem installing software on my laptop. Buy a camera. The Transcend memory card that I bought works perfectly, by the way.
