My cat hates collars. She hates being told what she can and can't do. She hates the vet. She hates it when she thinks she looks stupid. She hates being uncomfortable. When she needed a "cone," I wanted to find an alternative that would allow her to be comfortable and still rest, and also not scratch her ears and face. It seemed just right and was fun so it was perfect! She didn't complain at all so I knew she was comfortable which was great but I had to wash her every other day because she soaked up so much dirt and just smelled and looked gross which meant spending time in her collarless. that she might scratch and somehow defeat the purpose of the collar as a whole. Save your money and stick with the traditional ones, they're there for a reason.
