I read other reviews before purchasing and some people mentioned that it only charges but doesn't transfer data. I recently lost my charger so all I was looking for was a way to charge my device. As soon as I received it it did just that, my device charged quickly! However, I noticed that an update is available on my device. So he told me to connect the charger to the computer. I wasn't expecting a connection, but everything worked as it should. My device was updated and several new applications were transferred from my computer through this cable. So for now it seems to work just like the original charger that came with the Garmin device. Not sure if there are any catches but so far everything is looking good.
