All I can say is WOW. This thing is amazing! I'm not a pro, just a DIYer like a lot of other people, so my rating is based on that. Just follow the instructions and watch the videos the app points to. Don't be the person who reads manuals. The app will hold your hand throughout the process unless you select the "Don't show this" option when prompted. When the app launches, it tells you what shelves and walls you have, then suggests which options to use. The device is attached to the phone with an adhesive pad, which can be cleaned with water when dirty. on topic. It comes with 2 short cables, 1 USB-C and 1 Micro-USB (sorry iPhone users). You put your phone on the sticky part, connect it to your phone and you're ready to ride. It doesn't come with a carrying case, so I recommend saving the plastic cover that you peel off the adhesive pad to reseal when you remove the phone. As with any advanced spike finder, you need to calibrate the device. It consists in moving the device against the wall in large circular movements. It will notify you when it's done. You can then use Pan or Advanced mode, but I recommend panning first and then switching to Advanced mode. It felt more accurate that way, and the app gently prompts you to pan first. Panning forces you to move your phone along the wall at any distance and shows you a picture of what it finds. The advanced view is like a radar as you move it along the wall and when it detects a hairpin it shows you it in color. This is the best mode for finding the center of the rack and confirming that it is a rack and not PVC pipe or electrical conduit (more info below). In fact, in expanded mode, the screen will display text saying "bolt" or "tube/wire" to help identify what you're looking at. My short story: just moved in, drywall on wooden studs. Wanted to hang my 65 inch TV on the wall. wall opposite the bathroom. Used a $10 nail finder with flashing lights. Electrical, wooden and metal parts. Found the same first hairpin but didn't find the second. Enter Walabot: Found both studs (18 inches apart). Also found a power line next to the right hairpin and a PVC pipe that was directly to the RIGHT of the left hairpin. To make matters worse, both of the previous stud finders found a "center" to the right of the single stud they found. Another 1/4 inch to the right and I would have had a very expensive plumbing bill thanks to that PVC pipe. Walabot constantly determined the true center of the tip. I confirmed my findings with the endoscope camera thanks to the first air hole I drilled with a regular stud finder (and that prompted me to buy the Walabot). It cost about $60 at the time of purchase, and with the amount of money I saved by not butchering that PVC pipe, I HIGHLY recommend it. The app is extremely easy to use and the learning curve is small and well managed. The only negative I can think of is that it doesn't come with a carry case. They have a list for a higher quality tote bag, but even a silk bag would be better than nothing. Just be sure to save the clear hard film that you peel off the sticky pad if you don't have a case for it, as you can stick it back on to protect it from dirt when you remove it. I just put mine back in the box with this hard wrapping.
