These are probably the first clips that can hold all my long thin slippery hair. My hair is below my hips and very thin. It usually slips right out of most clamps. I was able to do several different hairstyles with these clips so I'm impressed. The springs are damn strong. It takes a little force to open them. They close tight. It stays in place and doesn't slip. They are made of metal with a shiny gold finish. It is so shiny that fingerprints are visible. The design is such that they have a low profile in your hair / the gold bars are thin and not very noticeable. Elegant appearance. My concern (and it's a minor issue) is that the claws aren't exactly "sharp", but they're not entirely harmless either. Since the jaws are very strong, I tried not to scratch my scalp when using them.
