Best Coffee Maker Ever

I saw this kettle on a blog and decided to check it out. I had a percolator style pot a few years ago but couldn't remember how it worked or tasted. I am currently using an old drip machine Mr. Kaffee. I have used Keurig and Ninja coffee. Keurig, while very convenient, I could never find a coffee I liked. Also, many of the pods had an odd taste to me. Ninja had a problem with pure light. Real PITA as well as POS machine for the price. Now please enlighten me just to be back in a week or two. This is a known issue and if you doubt me google it. I gave both to the local goodwill. So I decided to read some of the reviews here and then make my decision. Well after reading so many positive reviews I decided I have to have one. Now all I had to do was decide which one to order; 8 cup or 12 cup. I usually cook a pot just for myself. At the weekend, however, I tend to cook a large pot because my son comes with me for coffee. After reading the description here I found out where it says the mug weighs 4 ounces. In my guide Mr. Coffee is listed as a 5 ounce cup. and I usually make 8 cups. So I did the math: 5 oz. x 8 = 40 ounces. So 4 ounces. x 10 = 40 ounces. So I figured it would be best to order 12 cups to have some space for the weekend. After using this kettle a few times, I found that I have a lot more coffee than my Mr. Coffee. So I decided to use an actual measuring cup to find out the truth. I've concluded that a Farberware mug weighs 6 ounces. cup, and when I fill it to the 6 cup mark on the wall I have about 36 ounces. for 6 cups. In the first few days I brewed a little more coffee than usual and made myself weak. I measured the amount my favorite mug can hold and it came out to be 12 ounces. This kettle gives me 3 good cups of coffee when I make 6 cups. This is my take for a regular morning coffee. Now I fill up to the 6 cup mark and add 6 good scoops (tablespoons) of my coffee. I add a small amount of salt to the basket as one reviewer suggested. She claims it helps balance the acidity. I can't swear by it, but I can swear I won't be going back after a week of using this pot. The coffee tastes best that I made at my house. The smell is so pleasant in the morning. I will say that the coffee I use in my Mr. Coffee. I have a few brands and everything tastes better at Farberware. The only downside is the time it takes to make the pot. I'm retired so it doesn't bother me. If you're a worker bee, you probably don't want to waste your time. My 6 cup drink takes about 9-10 minutes to start the pleasure (cook) cycle. Then I turn the dial to 3 and set the timer to 7 minutes. I set it to the minimum setting when the timer fires. I also usually wait a few minutes before pouring the first cup. I leave the burner on. I know this is going to be long, but I have to say this too; If, like me, you're trying to decide between 8 cups and 12 cups, here's a tip. If you read carefully you will find that cup 8 comes with a plastic handle and cup 12 comes with glass. I can confirm that the 12 cups are glass. I can't confirm that the 8 cup is plastic, but the descriptions support my conclusions. So if you decide to buy 8 cups and then buy a glass handle, you're still stuck with the 12 cup price. Additionally, if you carefully compare the sizes of the two pots, you won't see much of a difference in the size of the two pots. I would choose cup 8 if it had a glass handle. I hope this review will help clarify these points for others. In conclusion I would like to say that I am very satisfied with my Farberware 12 cup coffee maker. For now, I've covered Mr. Coffee with a lid. I won't fall back on weak and lukewarm filter coffee any time soon. Signed; spoiled in PA
