Review on πŸ‘Ÿ Salomon Women's X Mission Running Shoes - Sargasso Bluestone in Athletic Style by Terrance Palau

Decent shoe, stupid laces

I've been using Salomon running shoes for years and absolutely love them. The tread is great for the dry/gravel trails in my area, so I rarely lose balance in areas that would normally slip and slide. They are also quite durable. However, I really hate the "quick lacing system". The laces are simply threaded through the eyelets, so there is no way to tighten them closer to the toes and loosen them at the bony arch/instep. On the contrary, options are either tight or loose. I lived with fast laces on my last pair, but for this shoe I wanted to tweak the fit a bit so my foot doesn't slide forward on descents. No problem, right? I just take out the quick laces and replace them with real laces that I can pull closer to my toes. Ha! Here's how it went: (1) Realized there is no way to get the laces out. You have to cut them off. (2) Cut the laces off one shoe. (3) Make sure the holes/loops are designed to only allow tiny fast laces through - regular laces are not allowed. (4) I wish I had bought other shoes. If I can't find shoes with regular laces, I don't think I'll buy Salomons again.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
