I've been using Salomon running shoes for years and absolutely love them. The tread is great for the dry/gravel trails in my area, so I rarely lose balance in areas that would normally slip and slide. They are also quite durable. However, I really hate the "quick lacing system". The laces are simply threaded through the eyelets, so there is no way to tighten them closer to the toes and loosen them at the bony arch/instep. I was waiting to post a review after doing about ten 1-2 hour hikes on some very rough rocky trails. Pros: You will never feel the sharp edges of the rocks, so the outsole and rubber outsole are excellent. When I first put them on I was concerned as they felt very tight so I untied the laces completely. Update: I wanted to update this review as I just used it on a different route over the weekend. There were quite a few creek crossings due to snowmelt, and more than a few times my feet dipped in water. Normally that would mean an awful rest of the day, BUT! To my surprise, they drained the water immediately and felt dry within 5 minutes.
