Excellent and inexpensive flash running TTL and HSS on camera and the same activation off camera with another YN685 flash or YN-622C-TX controller. Output (brightness) is roughly on par with Canon's flagship flashes. As with all Yongnuo products, the quality control sucks, meaning your flash could fail on arrival or have some weird flaws if thoroughly tested. In my experience, Yongnuo Flash products either die after the first few uses or last a very long time. So I always carry a backup, but not once did any of my flashes die during the shoot (except for one trigger). To understand the compatibility (in short), Yongnuo has three wireless flash trigger systems: 1. RF-602 / RF-603 / RF-605 / YN560-TX2 trigger. A cloned Canon YN-E3-RT that only works with the 600EX-RT3 range. YN622/YN622-TX YN685 flash can be triggered by YN622/YN622-TX. With this trigger system, it can do TTL and HSS. Power and zoom settings can be adjusted with the YN622-TX. This is the preferred combination for this product. YN685 can also be triggered by RF-603/RF-605/YN560-TX. YN560-TX allows you to adjust flash power and zoom. It cannot use TTL and HSS because YN560-TX is a manual trigger. YN685 cannot receive signals from both systems (603/622) at the same time, although there is a feature that suggests the opposite. At least it doesn't work on my model. YN685 must be set to system 603 or 622. YN685 does not work with YN-E3-RT system at all.
