I needed a cassette recorder for some old audio cassettes I have and for recording and playing radio programs. While not expensive, Jaras is about $10 more expensive than other players I own. The big difference is that Jaras hasn't "eaten" any of my tapes so far. Cheaper players "eat tapes regularly". The Jaras JJ-2618 has great tone and volume for voice recording and is definitely worth the extra money compared to players that destroy cassettes. I liked it so much that I bought it again - just in case. It is definitely preferable to cheaper players. So far he hasn't eaten a single tape and I promised to update this review if he starts this nasty practice. I'm glad I bought it and I've bought it again.
