Bought these and the bow to compare drawstring shorts. So far I prefer these. No springs or plastic brackets to weaken over time. Note that string tension keeps the locking device in the locked position, which in turn increases string friction proportional to tension. They pull the drawstring of my shorts quite hard. Pulling the string in the other direction ("behind" or the wide end) releases them easily. They can be inferior to spring/bow models if the string isn't under constant tension; With no tension, I see the latch disengaging and later not latching when needed. Removing and installing requires little effort as the gear needs to be pulled out of the case, but I've done it with my bare hands, plus I'll probably leave it attached to the shorts and won't replace it until it deteriorates from several have washes.
