Holds Much More Than Expected

At first we were suspicious of the quality and storage capacities of this device. We bought a 6 cube model. We wanted to hide large children's toys and books in our little house. It worked. Easy construction. I can't understand why some reviewers are complaining about the complexity of assembly. 15 minutes and done! A soft face mallet is included with the dice but should be used with caution. You don't have to slam any connections like you're building a house! We liked them so much we bought a second set and will be buying a third. We have stacked 6 cubes on 6 cubes. The bottom cubes have doors on the front and the top cubes have doors on the top. Books and heavier toys are placed on the floor. The instructions state that the connectors must not be installed in a horizontal position. In any case, we made the bottom and top connectors like this as they seemed to support the books without putting too much pressure on the panels and gave the top a cleaner look. Yes, the panels are a little flimsy, but they're encased in lightweight tubular steel and the vinyl offers relative support as long as they're not overstretched. These aren't store shelves for those who think you can magically turn them into something they weren't designed for. Toddlers keep putting their toys in and taking them out again without harm. They will not be used as climbing frames, so I assume the cubes will last a few years. The units can be built in many different configurations and additional parts are supplied. We broke 2 door latch clips when we had to remove them as we installed them backwards (DOH!) but extra parts were included. The cubes are washable and easy to wipe clean.
