Last year when I was busy making cloth masks because of COVID, I made masks with ties instead of rubber bands. The straps make it easier to control the fit, tightening the top half of the mask to reduce goggle fogging and much more comfortable on the ears. After wearing the mask for a few months, I realized that cord locks like those found on stuff sacks etc. could make adjusting the mask a lot easier. I've only found them in black and multiple color packs. They work well and so far have held up to regular machine washing and mask drying. After attaching the cord lock to a pair of ties, tie knots at the ends of each tie - this will prevent the cord lock from slipping off the ends of the ties when you remove the mask. Bonus tip: if using face mask ties, slide the buckles close to the mask before tossing the masks in the washer and dryer, this reduces tangling with other masks and the rest of your laundry!
