Superb Free Motion Foot

I'm a fan of Leah Day and tried her suggestion of attaching the plastic loop to the underside of the darning foot that came with my Janome MO200 (aka MC5200) machine and bending it. Hand and wrap the rubber band around the top spring. I've had moderate success with this - in fact the stitching was actually better than the standard foot - but the elastic would often slip, requiring me to remove the foot and readjust the elastic while the foot was still bouncing. a little. The leg that came with my machine was bouncing up and down all over the place >OR< it wasn't high enough for the quilt sandwich to be served smoothly. After a lot of practice, I got pretty decent lines, albeit with great difficulty. So I looked for the Janome foot that Leah has on her car and was surprised at the price, even the high one. (Or so I thought.) The assembly and installation of the machine took only a few minutes. Anyone who has ever changed the leg on a machine by unscrewing it from the side will have no problem putting this leg on. There weren't any instructions on how to do this but to be honest it's not rocket science and how to do it is actually pretty obvious and very, very simple. put your foot down I find the adjustable spring to be a heavenly blessing. If part of the patchwork sandwich is slightly higher or lower in a certain area, I just turn the screw and in a few seconds I'm back in business. No more pulling out your leg, fumbling (and swearing) with a rubber band. There are no more problems getting thick sandwiches under your paw. As for the quality of the stitches, I've noticed that the quality has improved. The distance between the stitches is of course regulated by the pedal and the coordination of hand movements. The leg has nothing to do with it. After all, it's a skill that needs to be developed through practice. However, it's a lot easier to control movement in any direction this way and I think that's because the foot doesn't bounce at all and I'm almost positive that fact in itself contributes to one too leads to improvement in stitch quality. Although the price may be intimidating, I recommend purchasing this foot if you have a Janome and want to learn free motion quilting. After practicing for just half an hour last night, I now feel confident enough to quilt tops I was hesitant to quilt and I'm no longer afraid of "ruining" my work. That paw is priceless.
