I have an unfinished 1500 square foot basement that can get moldy in the summer I have had this unit for 4 months I have to keeping the humidity low enough so my basement doesn't get musty Advantages: 1. You can set the humidity percentage you want set the set you want. The device turns on and off according to this level. I don't want the fan running 24 hours a day. In the summer months it may be necessary to work 24 hours a day if you have a very large room and a lot of water in the air.2. This unit is much quieter than other units I have had. There are two different levels and the lowest level is slightly quieter. In the warmer months I use a higher setting. Cons: 1. I don't like the hose that comes with the dryer to constantly drain the dryer. I'm too lazy to empty the bucket when it's full, so I prefer to hook up a continuous dryer drain to the pump used with the air conditioning and heating system. This is not a problem as I used a different hose.2. The controls are on top but I would prefer to have the controls on the front as I need to hold the unit off the ground to get water flowing from the unit to my pump next to my air conditioner and heater. No big deal because I set it up and forgot. Conclusion: It works and I would buy another one.
