"White dust" due to minerals in the water. Most readers already know that when used in water humidifiers, a fine white film is formed in some places by minerals. After "fogging" the room, residual mineral dust settles on horizontal and other surfaces. This is most noticeable in our home with black or dark objects. A black article is our "tester” for this. (In our case, it's an air-purifying machine that causes the dust to settle instead of floating in the air.) I dusted daily and then estimated how much was left after using the humidifier for a while — daily . and note how many hours the humidifier was on. I may have seen a little less white matter since I started using these little cartridges. (Two humidifiers; use them in each.) After less than 7 days of using them most of the day and night - in one car or another - the layer of dust seemed to have become an almost useless aid again. So now I put two in each humidifier instead of the one I want. Sigh. So far no help has been seen. I'll try something else. FYI - our water is not "hard". However, it is known to contain minerals. (Artesian well water. Very pure but contains minerals.) The cost of using distilled water instead of tap water adds up too much as we sometimes have to use humidifiers for most of the day and night. We can consume 3 to 5 gallons of water a day.
