I use gas credit to save $1 per gallon on gas. To take full advantage, I fill several 5 gallon canisters to purchase a maximum of 35 gallons at a discounted price. But filling my tank with 5 gallon cans is a pain with no venting! The addition of these vents is amazing - cuts drain time in HALF! Makes good gas cans great [Midwest or Metal], but don't waste it on crappy new style gas cans [Scepter] because they can't be mounted high enough. Midwest Can Left vs. Scepter Right - Requires access to interior to install vent, so close just before spout. The poor design of the Scepter cans makes it impossible to mount them high when they're upside down, so you can't open the vent until you're about a third empty. The increase in performance is amazing and reduces the time it takes to drain. 5 gallon jar cut in half! In the future I'll put cheap plastic valves on the handles of scepter glasses and use these metal valves on much better Midwest style glasses. Note that the Midwest cans are also twice the thickness of the cans. benches.
