Review on 💧 Enhanced Sawyer MINI Water Filtration System for Improved Filtering by Jason Richardson

For the avid hiker, a good filter is an essential piece of equipment. In my 30+ years of mountaineering I have always used the same type and brand of water filters. At one point a friend talked me into buying the Sawyer mini just to try it out (lighter, no pump, etc.) and I can't express how much I regret being talked into it. We used our standard pump filter. for the entire trip except for the first night when I decided to try the Sawyer mini. As other reviewers state, the ease of use shown in the instructions has nothing to do with the actual functionality of the product. It was difficult to hold the o-ring and washer without losing them. The bag creates a vacuum as soon as you lower it into the water, making filling it nearly impossible. Best of all, only my dining room was filled (once - forever) and no one else in our group was using it. The bad thing is that I am currently being treated for Giardia. All instructions were followed to the letter but this filter worked so poorly that I drank straight from the river. And now that the return period has passed, I'm not even getting my money back for the two filters I bought (not to mention the hundreds of dollars in medical bills and lost work). If you are looking for a good filter that will protect you from bacteria, parasites, etc. pay attention because this is not the filter you are looking for!
