a dialysis water filter system makes sense. I bought my son

. This product has everything you need to make hiking and water carrying easier. The filter system for the dialysis water made sense for the nursing staff. I bought this for my son with a 2 liter pack of platypus for a PKT hike in Oregon. I thought it was awesome. And that. Except that on the second day of his hike, the O-ring that forms the seal that pumps the water into the reservoir broke. Other PCT lovers knew the mini problem. Apparently the standard Sawyer filter doesn't have this…

China strikes again, fake junk.

I already have 1 mini sawmill, thought it would be nice to have a backup. The first sign that it was fake was when I received it the product packaging was open. Without sticker and seal. I looked at customer photos and noticed that they all came packaged in a hard plastic sleeve along with a box. The piston was completely different. The bag was handmade as you can see and the ring in the filter was different than what I saw in the photos. So I took my original Mini and noticed other…

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Instructions are written as if they relate to a different product. A push-pull valve is mentioned several times in the instructions when there is no push-pull valve. The syringe used for backwashing cannot be attached to the filter and must be pressed against the filter with force. This is a very poor, inadequate design that allows water to leak around the connection between the filter and the syringe, so flushing is insufficient. due to lack of pressure and flow. This could have been designed…

This is not the filter you are looking for

For the avid hiker, a good filter is an essential piece of equipment. In my 30+ years of mountaineering I have always used the same type and brand of water filters. At one point a friend talked me into buying the Sawyer mini just to try it out (lighter, no pump, etc.) and I can't express how much I regret being talked into it. We used our standard pump filter. for the entire trip except for the first night when I decided to try the Sawyer mini. As other reviewers state, the ease of use shown in

Filter with hack for humidification and filtration

Protects you from death if you are not eaten by a bear or a pack of wolves. If that happens, it's not Sawyer's fault. But at least you can feel good about not passing harmful bacteria or parasites to the critters gnawing on your bones. A simple hack to replace the bundled package. This filter is screwed onto a 700 ml or 1 liter SmartWater bottle. The 700ml sport cap is perfectly sized to fit over the outlet end of the filter and is strong enough to support the weight of a full 1 liter bottle…

and above all a simple way to filter water

If you are looking for a small, light, compact and most importantly simple way to filter your water, look no further. Sawyer makes an AWESOME device that won't break the bank. I bought this filter a few months ago [to add to my survival/camp backpack and have filtered about 40 liters of water through it since. This filter purifies everything from questionable garden hose water to cloudy lake water, turning it into perfectly clean and fresh-tasting drinking water. Of course I was skeptical at…

Great compact filter for hiking, especially as a gravity system.

This is a great option for a light and compact filter! I was looking for a new hiking filter. I have used various gravity and pump systems in the past and wanted something smaller and lighter that would fit in my backpack. I don't expect to use it on a water bottle as it feels a bit uncomfortable for me. I was a bit apprehensive at first because I thought it would only work as a compression system, which as some comments indicate, seems a bit slow or clunky at times. After using it as a squeeze
