Filter with hack for humidification and filtration

Protects you from death if you are not eaten by a bear or a pack of wolves. If that happens, it's not Sawyer's fault. But at least you can feel good about not passing harmful bacteria or parasites to the critters gnawing on your bones. A simple hack to replace the bundled package. This filter is screwed onto a 700 ml or 1 liter SmartWater bottle. The 700ml sport cap is perfectly sized to fit over the outlet end of the filter and is strong enough to support the weight of a full 1 liter bottle. Simply squeeze the air out of the bottle on the outlet side and lean it against a tree or rock for gravity feeding, or you can squeeze the bottle with the inflow to speed up the process. Be sure to cover the washer with your finger when shaking out the filter to avoid loosening and losing it. Yellow Plastic Protector for 5/16" and 1/2" ID Screws (manufactured by Hillman and available from Lowe's for $0.92/pack of 3 - Model #881039, Fastening Section, which houses metal bolts, washers, etc. ( d.) Includes steel housings. They are marked Hillman.) Fits over the inlet of the Sawyer mini filter to prevent leakage and prevent debris from entering the filter when stored in your backpack. held by a filter inserted into a sports cap. In the second photo (sorry for the blurriness), a liter bottle is filled with air squeezed out. In the third photo, my finger is over the washer while I shake the filter to avoid losing it. The last photo shows the Hillman cap and packaging.
