Review on 📻 Discontinued Griffin Technology RadioShark AM/FM Desktop Radio with Time-Shift Recording: Find Alternatives & Compare Prices by Troy Boren

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product after setup, here's how I made it. Updated December 2013

I was wary of reading so many negative reviews and I understand why they were upset and disappointed because I had the same problems as them. But because I love tinkering with computers and reading positive reviews, I solve all problems. I live in the greater Los Angeles area, about 40 miles from downtown Los Angeles. I believed others that the radio reception was poor, but thanks to a review titled "EZ's Solution to Poor Reception Problem" is a bit verbose, but to solve this problem I bought a $9 Bose FM Radio antenna Bose® Wave® FM antenna I. I mainly wanted to record FM stations to listen to later. I bought a used Shark listed on Revain because a couple of happy reviewers mentioned they've had theirs for over 5 years, so I've come to the conclusion that the problem is not with the hardware but with the software lies. .I also concluded that I would not receive any technical support from Griffin Technologies, so I searched the internet and found solutions to many possible complaints mentioned by the 1 star reviewers. I was ready to reinstall Windows XP, but luckily I didn't have to. What I did to make it work on Windows 7. Created a new user specifically for radio recording. I removed all USB related drivers like printer, webcam, USB phone and bulk hubs. I was still having trouble recognizing the driver, so I went to the folder where the software was installed and made Windows XP version 2 run. I removed all USB devices in Device Manager, restarted Windows and the Sharkradio device showed up. The software is very basic and I didn't like it at all, luckily I found a program on the internet called Snaptunes. Now I have a radio like PVRI that can select time and day or the same time every day. It's frustrating that Snaptunes wants to scour the web to tag songs. I'm not talking about song titles, there are many other ways to come up with names. I record about 180MB of files in 4 hours. To solve this problem, when adding a new radio station, check the box that it is a radio show. You can then use free audio file splitters, or I use Total Recorder Pro. If Griffen's technology was smart, they would buy Snaptunes because I think it's more convenient. As I come across new fixes and tweaks, I'll update this review. ListeningUpdate 7th December 2013 More than 2 years and still recording FM radio stations even after replacing the motherboard and HD and all the latest win 7 updates. Lucky for me
