The devil is in the details

I would give this coat 5 stars if there were two very important things: the hood and the Velcro on the flap that closes the zipper. First the hood: it has no closure. Unbelievable for what this coat was meant to be and do. As such, there is no way to close the hood or zip it under the chin - no drawstrings, drawstrings/bungee, buttons or buttons. This is a small detail, but a very important one, as a hood is practically useless if you can't adjust it snugly to your head. As a result, it swells and is immediately blown away in light winds. Second, Velcro: it sticks to EVERYTHING! A few of my sweaters were ruined, not to mention mittens, hats, and anything else that could get caught on the Velcro. Also, the velcro is weak and won't stay closed. You really need to replace Velcro with buttons. Another small detail with big consequences. Overall, the coat is very warm and fits very well. I keep it for these reasons and also because I'm tired of looking for a coat that fits my slim, long-sleeved frame. I'm 5ft 7in, 122lbs and the small size fits perfectly. However, I wouldn't recommend it if the hood is important to you and you wear sweaters or other knitwear. UPDATE: A year has passed and I'm taking back. One star because I've now had the chance to wear this in cold weather and it's not warm at all. The reflective lining actually reflects cold air back to you from the waist down, which makes sense since the foil doesn't reflect temperature either was. Basically, this coat is suitable for temperatures above 35 degrees and no wind because the hood does not work.

Pros
  • If size 7.5, order 8 because the size is too small.
Cons
  • Causes blisters and irritation
