This controller is pretty much plug and play. I damaged my old one trying to solder new bulbs which blew on the board. All my fault. I chose this product as a replacement based on the cheapness, compatibility, and the fact that the defrost button can be changed to a spacebar. Actually, if you want to bother, you can replace your old bezel with a new case, but I don't mind if I have a button that I know doesn't work. Maybe one day I'll get a spare glass with a defroster in it. The grips were a little clunky, obviously used. I just replaced them with the ones I had. Actually, it's nothing to worry about. If you can remove your truck's paneling, pull out the existing unit, and replace with a new one, that's a five-minute fix to a non-working air conditioning system.
