New to chimneys in general.

I recently bought a house with two wood stoves - I've never had so many fireplaces, I've done a lot of research - planning a new Hearth build now as well as verifying that the code matches my current installation. My chimney has two 90's (from the wall, then up) which makes cleaning a real challenge. and it was obvious when I started cleaning that in the past nobody wanted to deal with it. My roof and chimney cap are easy to access, so I cleared a vertical section this way, then removed the knee above my stove and cleaned the chimney. horizontal laying made of glued plastic with a hole for the sticks to avoid clutter. What I ended up with was a mostly smooth Grade A stovepipe and chimney pipe - with some small bits of leftover that really baked. I'm hoping a few hot lights in the new oven will make my next cleaning even more productive. This was my first chimney sweep and I ended up with over 128 ounces of black powder. Note. I used a whole house vacuum to pick everything up and the bag/filter wasn't good enough so my garage was very dusty afterwards. Learn from my mistake!

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • I really don't like anything about it, everything is fine
