HOLY soot! suitable for household goods

We only heat on weekends, so in my six years of home ownership I have never cleaned the chimney. We've burned a lot of green/wet wood over the years, and a month ago I took the liner panels off and noticed some glazed creosote. So of course I got paranoid about chimney fires and all and went on YouTube and fell in love with this product. It seemed too good to be true considering I was thinking of renting an elevator and buying a new brush because I have a really cool roof. Seeing this product…

Mary Poppins meets MacGyver!

It worked like magic! It's well built and not flimsy, the parts fit well and it does the job! We have a wood stove with no bends, a straight shot of about 16 feet to the hood (minus the part from the ceiling to the stove). We do not have an open wood stove like on YouTube. We removed a piece from the stove to the ceiling, took a milk jug and cut the handle off to thread the rods, put on a bowl cut to the size of our pipe, taped the jug to the pipe and then taped the air duct to ours Shop vacuum

Pros
  • I like everything so far
Cons
  • Long delivery time

New to chimneys in general.

I recently bought a house with two wood stoves - I've never had so many fireplaces, I've done a lot of research - planning a new Hearth build now as well as verifying that the code matches my current installation. My chimney has two 90's (from the wall, then up) which makes cleaning a real challenge. and it was obvious when I started cleaning that in the past nobody wanted to deal with it. My roof and chimney cap are easy to access, so I cleared a vertical section this way, then removed the…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • I really don't like anything about it, everything is fine

Photos tell a story

This product does the job - I've uploaded a couple of photos, one before and one after cleaning my factory chimney. It should be fairly obvious which is which. It's been a few years since I've had housekeeping to clean it up for me. Instead of paying $175 for another cleaning and inspection, I ordered this item and did it myself. nearby, even with the firebox covered with plastic wrap as instructed) took about an hour or so. The actual time of using the device itself was 10-15 minutes. It is…

I thought it was an easy job that took less time than it could.

I am 62 years old with chronic back pain and I could NEVER climb our roof. I found this product from an internet search and was skeptical but read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Our chimney is 30 feet tall and contains as many poles as needed to reach 18 feet. Buying a second set was cheaper than just buying the extra rods, and I ended up with a spare brush and drill bit. Sitting on a small wooden chair, I attached the brush to the first pole and began pushing it up the chimney. I…

High quality, works great.

The chimney I bought it for has 8" x 16" clay chimneys. It was quite dirty see photos. The foot consists of plastic rods with metal ends that snap into place with an index pin. They seem strong enough for their intended use and I would expect them to be able to clean dozens or hundreds of chimneys with ease. The rods are rigid enough to turn the head reliably and flexible enough to bend into the chimney. The drill was reliable. The head is made from a few tines of a thick grass whip, flexible…

Pros
  • Increases the output of a wood stove and/or fireplace.

The only way to clean the chimney.

This is an amazing product. I thought I wanted a brush until I thought about how this device could work. In our holiday home, the chimney has not been cleaned in spring and autumn for 4 years. Over 20 feet from furnace to chimney cap, with a steep roof so I didn't want to climb the roof. Opening the chimney about 6 feet above the stove I noticed a flaky buildup of creosote perfect for starting a fire. It was about 17 feet from where I dismantled the pipe to the chimney cap on the roof, so 18…

Pros
  • Easy to use - use only cordless drills (18V recommended)
Cons
  • Great price

Impressive cleanliness is best in brushes

I was really hesitant to buy after reading reviews of parts coming loose in the flue tube and how difficult it is to take apart. After a professional cleaning*, my smoke alarm went off after a few weeks. I took the chimney off the stove and looked up. What I found was a creosote build-up tube. I tried calling another professional cleaner but they were all busy until mid-February. Now I have an aframe and I am not going to climb the stairs and try to clean top to bottom after reading the…
