Review on Efficient Soldering Appliance with Adjustable Temperature Control by Joshua Albright

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great set for beginners!

I am new to soldering and have been plagued by numerous problems on various projects I have tried over the years. No doubt some of the issues are capability related but I suspected these issues were made worse by my cheap iron which had no controls and I don't think it got very hot. A big project came up with a lot of soldering and I felt the need to solve this problem, enter this kit, very affordable and yet the iron can reach up to 900 degrees (in practice 400450 is enough for what I do and ever do more you heat the more the solder oxidizes and otherwise complicates your life, so don't overdo it with the heat (found it out personally)). I also gave it a star in the warmth category because even with vents and a comfortable grip at 450-500 degrees (mid to low end of the range) it's uncomfortable to hold as it's too hot (she won). don't burn yourself on these settings, just uncomfortable although it gets maxed out and it can be.) This kit is amazing and while I knew what I was getting I was still impressed with this kit! Also, the iron has a value-added feature, which I read about under "why the heck do you need this, but I think it's cool!" However, according to the user manual, you can hold certain buttons in a certain way and go into a special mode where the buttons +- switch between numbers, which allows you to set a password, which is even required to turn on the device.
