Review on Logitech M585 Wireless Mouse – Seamless Control and File Management Between 2 Windows and Apple Mac Devices via Bluetooth or USB, 2-Year Battery Life, Graphite by Mark Cannon

Comfortable and compact mouse with full functionality. Bluetooth connection allowed!

The M585 Bluetooth Mouse is the perfect size for comfortable all-day use with medium-sized hands. Although I use my fingertip grip on the mouse, I also find it comfortable to use the entire handgrip. For larger hands, this mouse might feel uncomfortably small, but it fits best. The top plate is made of smooth matte plastic, while the side plates are made of softer, tactile plastic. I was considering buying a Logitech MX Anywhere 2 (not 2S) - one of Logitech's premium mobile mice - but I chose the M585 for several reasons: 1. Similar form factor but larger Arch2. Same connectivity options (Bluetooth or 2.4GHz Unifying receiver)3. Similar arrangement of forward/backward buttons (mandatory) 4. Conventional scroll wheel (ratchet)5. Same flow options and the ability to switch between two computers6. Price Other Bluetooth mice I reviewed were: 1. Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is flat and overpriced2. Logitech Triathlon - similar features but too big3. Microsoft Sculpt Comfort is a flat form factor with a glossy finish that resists fingerprints. The Logitech M535 is the basic version of this mouse without thumb buttons, Flow software and multi-channel WiFi. Overall I am very happy with this mouse. The only feature I had to sacrifice compared to the MX Anywhere 2 is a less accurate tracking sensor (1000dpi) instead of the darkfield laser which is up to 1200dpi and works on more surfaces. Please note that MX Anywhere 2S has up to 4000 dpi and more is recommended for gaming. I use M585 for casual gaming but no problem. I found the optical sensor to work well on almost any surface other than glass. As mentioned above, the scroll wheel is also different, but I prefer the stock M585 wheel. Although I wanted a lighter mouse, I was concerned that the matte gray color would look cheap. Although personally I'm happy with the color: not quite silvery, but not ugly either. It creates a cool retro vibe. I couldn't get Flow to work between the two computers, but it's probably a network issue at work. I'm fine with having one mouse in front of two computers and easily switching between them (no software required). Mouse clicks are a bit louder than some. If you like a quieter mouse, I recommend taking a closer look at the M590. At the time of this review, they were not generally available. BLUETOOTH PROBLEM: I had problems with the Bluetooth connection the second time around. The mouse connected flawlessly to my ASUS Windows 10 laptop the first time. While fiddling around on multiple PCs with different merging receivers, I clicked on "Remote Device" in the mouse settings to reset everything and swap channels 1 and 2. After that, I could no longer connect the mouse via Bluetooth! The M585 uses Bluetooth 4.1 (Smart Bluetooth) technology which may cause compatibility issues with some older systems. However, that wasn't the problem. After going through seemingly every Bluetooth troubleshooting guide on the web, I realized the problem was simple! I had to reactivate the mouse, but there didn't seem to be a bluetooth connect button on the mouse itself. BLUETOOTH SOLUTION: To put the mouse into Bluetooth active mode, press and hold the top button until the green LED flashes very quickly. Flashes approximately 3 times per second as opposed to the typical 1 second flash. This allows other devices to temporarily detect the mouse via Bluetooth and establish a permanent connection.
