Review on Tangxi Camera Focusing Split Image Replacement by Adam Walsh

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works as it should but is a little wobbly

I replaced the ground glass screen in my Nikon D5300 with this one. Installation was pretty easy if you follow the instructions you can find online. Includes latex thumb pads. You will also need tweezers. The product works as expected but not perfect. I compared it to the matte screen on my old Nikon F 35mm film camera. Compared to that gold standard, this product has a plus and a few minuses: + doesn't turn black as quickly at slower apertures - the microprism ring isn't as detailed - the line between the split screen isn't perfectly horizontal - the split screen has a black border around its elements, even at a wide aperture of f1.8. I've posted the picture I took through the viewfinder so you can see what I'm talking about. Ignore the rectangle, that's the square of the focus indicator, and ignore the outer template, it's not part of this screen.

  • Easy to use
Cons
